What is Tenofovir for:

This medication is a class of antiretroviral agent, prescribed for HIV infection in combination with other medicines, and chronic hepatitis B in adults. It works by blocking the growth of HIV.

How does Tenofovir work:

Tenofovir works to harm the virus and fight the infection.

How should Tenofovir be used:

It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food. The dose is one 300 mg tablet once daily taken orally, without regard to food.

Common side effects of Tenofovir :

Headache. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Loose stools (diarrhea). Feeling tired or weak. Weak bones with long-term use.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking Tenofovir :

If you have an allergy to tenofovir or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.

What is Lamivudine for:

This medication is a potent nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitor (nRTI).

How does Lamivudine work:

This drug is prescribed for HIVAIDS, and hepatitis B either alone or with other medication. It works by reducing the amount of hepatitis B virus in the body

How should Lamivudine be used:

To gain the most benefit, do not miss doses. Use as you have been told, even if you are feeling better. In HIV care, this drug is most often taken with 2 other drugs. Take with or without food. Take with food if it causes an upset stomach. There is a liquid (solution) if you cannot swallow pills. Those who have feeding tubes may also use the liquid. Flush the feeding tube before and after this drug is given.

Common side effects of Lamivudine :

This medication is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI), and active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) prescribed for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) type 1 either alone or with other medications.

How does Efavirenz work:

Efavirenz works to harm the virus and fight the infection.

How should Efavirenz be used:

Adult- PO- The recommended dose is 600 mg, once daily. It comes as a tablet and capsule to take by mouth, on an empty stomach.

Common side effects of Efavirenz :

Feeling lightheaded, sleepy, having blurred eyesight, or a change in thinking clearly. Avoid driving and doing other tasks or actions that call for you to be alert or have clear eyesight until you see how this drug affects you. Feeling dizzy. Rise slowly over a few minutes when sitting or lying down. Be careful climbing. Low mood (depression). Nervous and excitable. Not able to sleep. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Loose stools (diarrhea). High cholesterol level. High triglyceride level.
